Applies to all Dynamics 365 On-Premises that utilize Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or above.
Follow these steps to create an example MISSION: Auto Number rule for the Dynamics 365 Account entity.
To complete these steps, the user performing these actions must have:
- Local access to the server that hosts SQL Server Management Studio
- Be a SQL Sys Admin, SQL Backup Admin or privileges that allow you to back up a database
- Have write access to the database backup location
Connect to your server or workstation that has Microsoft SQL Management Studio and Connect to the Dynamics 365 SQL Instance, enter your SQL username and password or select "Windows Authentication" and then select "Connect"
Right click on your Dynamics 365 Instance database, select "Tasks" and then select "Backup"
Set the "Backup type" to "Full", ensure “Back up to” is set to "Disk" and then select "Add" to select your save location for the database backup. Ensure you name the backup as to clearly identify its purpose.
Select "OK" and verify you can locate and view the .bak file from windows explorer
